About Ice Hockey & French Camp

Take French classes in the morning and spend your afternoon discovering and practicing the Canadian national sport in a hockey camp!

The program is designed for skaters with previous ice skating experience and who aim to improve their hockey techniques while learning French.

Program Features

Daily Schedule (Monday to Friday)

8:30 am Arrive at Collège Mérici

8:30 am – 11:45 am French Class

11:45 am – 1:00 pm Lunch

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm Gym Training

4:30 pm – 9:00 pm Training on ice + Hockey Game

9:00 pm Transport to Residence

Requirements

10-17 years of age at the start of the program
Students must bring their own equipment if possible (hockey stick, helmet, gloves, skates, etc.)
Previous experience in ice skating is mandatory
It might be possible to rent the equipment for $165 / week
Foreign students must meet Canadian visa requirements and have travel and health insurance for the duration of the program

Location and Facilities

The program is offered in beautiful Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the only major city in Canada that offers a 100% French-speaking environment. As the cradle of francophone culture in the Americas, Quebec City offers an unparalleled opportunity for French immersion.

The school is centrally located on the Collège Mérici campus in downtown Quebec City, close to major tourist and cultural attractions. On-site facilities include a gymnasium, aerobics room, library, computer labs, an internet cafe, cafeteria, a student lounge and ample green spaces.

Details

The Summer French and Hockey for Teenagers weekly program includes 15 hours of language classes and hockey team training every afternoon. Develop your reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills in the morning, and spend your afternoon on ice playing hockey, the Canadian national sport, all in French!

The program is designed for skaters with previous experience and includes team coaching. Games are also planned on a weekly basis. It is a great opportunity to meet local teenagers that share the same interest as you and to know the hockey culture in Quebec City. Improve your abilities to play hockey while practicing French with French-speaking trainers and local hockey players in a complete immersion environment.

Either the homestay or residence option offer our students a complete immersion experience in Quebec City. Our “French only” policy ensure all students speak French at all time.
