Location and Facilities
The French & Music program is offered in beautiful Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the only major city in Canada that offers a 100% French-speaking environment. As the cradle of francophone culture in the Americas, Quebec City offers an unparalleled opportunity for French immersion. The school is centrally located on the Collège Mérici campus in downtown Quebec City, close to major tourist and cultural attractions. On-site facilities include a gymnasium, aerobics room, library, computer labs, an internet cafe, cafeteria, a student lounge and ample green spaces.
The Conservatoire de Musique et d’Art Dramatique du Québec is the most important music school in Quebec. As part of the Quebec government’s system of conservatories across the province, this school provides excellence in music training at all levels.
The facilities include soundproof practice rooms and students bring their own instruments, or can use or rent those available on-site (subject to availability). The Conservatoire is located within short walking distance of Collège Mérici.
Details
The French & Music program includes 15 hours of language classes and 10 to 15 hours of music training and practice per week. Develop your reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills in the morning and in the afternoon, receive professional music training and take advantage of the soundproof rooms to practice.
The program is designed for students who already have a background in music. You will fill out a questionnaire before you arrive so that the conservatory can identify your instrument of choice and place you with a suitable instructor. Part of the time will be spent training with an instructor in private or group lessons, and part of the time will be spent practicing.
Take advantage of the homestay option to live with a French-speaking family for a complete immersion experience in Quebec City!
